Cinec version 1.8 was released today with the amazing ability to encode video in the entire Apple ProRes family on Windows; and not only that, but it’s FREE.
Cinec is a software from Cinemartin, a developer of tools for film and video, that enables encoding and conversion of videos into a wide range of film and broadcast formats.
In addition to the complete ProRes family (4444, 422HQ, 422, 422LT and Proxy), it is also possible to encode videos in other codecs such as Avid DNxHD, XDCAM or H.264.
It supports a wide variety of formats and resolutions, including PAL, NTSC, HD, 1080i, 1080p, 2K and 4K; as well as the ingest of avi, mpeg, mts, m2ts, m2v, 3gp, mp4, m4a, 3g2, mj2, mov, wmv, etc.
It includes fast processing capabilities, using multiple cores for this purpose, and in high quality.
Among other features we can find functions to cut videos easily, setting the start and end points thanks to its position bars and numerical selectors; or make speed changes, timelapse and stop motion with its Velocity Speed tool, being able to choose from 1 to 100 fps.
It is designed for Windows operating systems, supporting Windows XP and Windows 7 in its 32 and 64 bit versions. You can download version 1.8 for free through this link.
And if you are still not clear on what each of the codecs of the ProRes family, other formats, or you don’t know how to choose among so many, I recommend that you keep an eye out for the next Codecs and Video Formats Course.
