Cineform codec now open source

GoPro has announced that its most popular lossless codec, Cineform, will be made freely available as open source.

This, as mentioned above, is a lossless codec that is quite popular in video post-production as it consumes fewer resources than other codecs such as MPEG4 or H264.

On the other hand, the fact that it provides the opportunity for images to be stored in 10 bit 4:2:2 YUV, 12 bit 4:4:4:4 RGBA, or in RAW 12 bit RAW. In addition to the fact that it is SMPTE standard, it makes it ideal for online broadcasting.
