Cinemartin, the Spanish developer of Cinec encoding software, has announced a partnership with NVIDIA to deliver the world’s fastest H.265 encoding.
The two companies have teamed up to create P-Mod (P-Module), a module designed to enable 100x faster speed using NVIDIA’s graphics instead of CPU solutions for H.265 encoding.
The big difference comes in the form of increased performance through software licensing. Cinemartin claims that, given the same hardware configuration, the P-Mod doubles the performance of other systems without its technologies. For this there is only one requirement, to have the latest (2015) NVIDIA Maxwellsecond generation GForce and Quadro cards:
- 960
- 970
- 980
- 980TI
- Titan X
- Quadro M4000
- Quadro M5000
- Quadro M6000
According to tests carried out by the company, these configurations can achieve up to twice the speed of 4K encodings in real time (1 minute of 4K in just 30 seconds) and up to 7 times when talking about Full HD material (7 minutes of 1080p in 1 minute).
The P-Module will be released during the last quarter of the year, along with Cinec 4.5, and will be an option for existing users to purchase.
