Cinemartin has introduced a solution called TEODORED aimed at RED users who are looking for affordable recording options.

It is an external recorder capable of capturing 4K, 5K or even 6K images on a 512GB M.2 SSD (it has the same storage capacity as a mini-mag drive but is faster). The TEODORED is actually a small computer that runs on Windows 10 and performs recording through the RED TETHER application. In addition to the possibility of internal recording, you can record on USB hard disks, such as Samsung T1 or T3, or r3d files directly on SDXC (UHS1) cards such as those from SanDisk.

It features a 5.7-inch, 2560×1440 resolution, 500 NITs brightness touchscreen that can double as a monitor without the need to purchase a dedicated module.

Because this device is a computer, in addition to recording and viewing files, it is also possible to use other tools such as RED Pro Cine for editing, or software such as DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Creative Cloud.

It is expected to go on sale in October or November of this year in two available models:

  • 256GB model: Core i3 Skylake and 8GB DDR4 RAM. Price 1.795€ (1.895$)
  • 512GB model: Core i5 Skylake and 24GB DDR4 RAM. Price €2,395 ($2,450).
