Cortex detects dead pixels

MTI Film recently introduced a new feature across its Cortex line of solutions, aimed at dailies creation and processing, to address the dead pixel problem that persists in digital cinema.

Now, all Cortex products with v2.0 will include the Dead Pixel Detection tool, which identifies these pixels within the average, both in camera raw and post-slices.

The information on where they are located can be stored, along with the other metadata, and sent in a file to post-production.

Those with Cortex Enterprise will be able to use Dead Pixel Correction, a feature that allows instant automatic correction of this minor flaw. Its operation is based on MTI Film’s experience in digital image restoration, and can be performed on the basis of reports sent from the shoot or by re-analyzing the material.
