The latest version (10.1) of DaVinci Resolve color correction system for Mac, Windows and Linux is now available for download.
Edition
It seems that Blackmagic Design continues to focus on improving the editing tools. One of the most notable new features in this area has been support for importing XML from Final Cut Pro X 10.1.
If we continue with FCP X, “Compound Clips” containing separate audio and video elements will now be displayed as individual clips in the DaVinci timeline.
Final Cut 7 XML includes font properties and markers, and thanks to new reframing settings, translation from one system to another will be more accurate.
Support for “Rich Text Titles” allows you to control the text by modifying its size, position and color parameters for each character from the Edit window.
Also very important is the new ability to trim with image sequence-based formats such as ARRIRAW, DPX and DNG.
In addition, a shot selector has been added that allows users to preview and align multiple camera shots during editing and quickly switch between them to display options in the timeline.
S3D
These improvements will only affect those who have the full (paid) version and work with stereoscopic material.
The way DaVinci handles this type of media has been slightly modified, with both eyes included in the same multitrack timeline for easier editing and the ability to synchronize them in the Media Pool. Automatic alignment has been added and convergence adjustments, which will be made on a separate track to simplify keyframe editing, have been improved.
