Let’s start Tuesday by talking about the new DaVinci Resolve. With only two months to go before the release of version 12, Blackmagic Design has already decided to release its first update, 12.1.
Among the most outstanding features you will find remote rendering (in the Studio version) and 10-bit display on OS X El Capitan operating systems (at last!).
In addition to 10-bit, support for native color profiles has been added to OS X. Of course, color functions, editing and support for some formats have been improved:
Editing and media management
- Ability to select clips in blade mode.
- Ability to extend freeze frames from the start of editing.
- Ability to perform a negative CT offset on clip attributes.
- Auto-scroll during resizing of a timeline element.
- Support of fades on generators and titles.
- Improved rendering of audio transitions.
- Possibility to manage the average of selected clips in a timeline.
- Ability to filter clips based on whether they have keyframes.
- Improved sorting in media storage and media pool.
- Support for intelligent bin filtering based on clip type.
- Ability to move clips and timelines from the intelligent bin display.
- Support for moving files to the trash instead of permanently deleting them, via the media manager on Mac and Windows.
- Ability to delete multiple projects and folders in the project manager.
Color
- Ability to decompose a compound node.
- Ability to correct nested timelines.
- Ability to make keyframes manually in the power window in frame mode even without tracking.
- Ability to freeze frame on an external matte.
- User option to copy flags and markers when performing ColorTrace.
Supports
- Improved support for XML subclips from FCP 7.
- Improved ACEScc support.
- SDL (stereo decision list) v0.25 support.
- Support for RED SDK v6.0.4.
- Support for embedded timecode in the audio output.
Blackmagic Design has also announced that it is working with GenArts to incorporate Sapphire Builder support, which is scheduled for release with Sapphire 9.0.1.
