Blackmagic Design has updated its renowned DaVinci Resolve color correction system to version 12.5.3.
This update brings improved integration with two of the leading editing systems, Avid Media Composer and Final Cut Pro X. In the case of Avid Media Composer, it will be easier to make back and forth from one system to the other using AAF files, as it is now possible to import dip-to-color transitions and certain transform effects such as flips and flops. As for Final Cut X, the company continues to work to make roundtripping as easy as possible, so they have now added support for the XML 1.6 format used in the latest version of the editor.
Also concerning Apple, through PostgreSQL 9.5.2, compatibility with the Sierra operating system is achieved.
Other important improvements will be found in the ACES and HDR workflows, due to the support of ACES 1.0.2, the addition of the ACEScct color space and improved Dolby Vision XML export for finishing and mastering high dynamic range content.
No new codecs or formats have been added this time, but the performance of MXF XAVC encoding has been improved.
Version 12.5.3 is completely free for DaVinci Resolve Studio users, and is also available for the free version of the software. You can download it via this link.
