DaVinci Resolve, the product of Blackmagic Desgin, has decided to make a number of changes to its popular software. There are three main changes to the distribution of its functionality through the software. Among them are
Live View
In the latest version, we can position the cursor over a thumbnail and we will be able to see the preview of the same clip in the preview monitor. We must be careful not to confuse in the preview monitor the clip we have selected with the clip on which we have the cursor. The monitor will always show us the one on which we have the cursor.
If, on the other hand, the clip carries a sound track, the preview will play the audio as well. If you work with a DSLR and listen to the unfiltered camera sound, only unpleasant sound bites will be heard. But don’t worry, this update can be disabled in the menu.
In previous versions you could not open folders in new windows. Fortunately, that has changed. Right-click on a container in the media group and select open in a new window. It will then have its own window.
Create a container from a clip
Now, from the program you can create a content container directly from a clip. Just right-click on the clip and select the option and you are ready to go. This clip will be automatically moved to the new container. This can be done by selecting multiple clips.
Double window
DaVinci Resolve 14 offers the ability to have a single preview window on the edit page. Previously, you could only have a single preview window by opening the effects panel along with the metadata or inspector. This old solution only caused crashes. In the new version you can close the source monitor by pressing a button.
