DCP course. Digital filmmaking with free software October 2012

We announce a new call for this technological and practical DCP course for all of us who work in film post-production.

Digital projection is today a technological reality. The progressive death of photochemical is giving way to digital packages in commercial theaters. DCP (Digital Cinema Packet) is an exhibition standard that we will be asked today to digitally exhibit our audiovisual work on the big screen. However contrary to what many believe (or certain sectors want to make believe) the DCP standard is a free and open standard, anyone can create a DCP display fully professional and compatible with commercial theaters with free software. You just need to know how.

This course will explain the technical bases that constitute the DCP: compression, encapsulation, resolutions, color spaces, etc. and will apply these bases to the use of free software currently available on Mac, PC and Linux. It is an intensive and highly technical course that will enable the student to independently create digital exhibition masters for both 2D and stereoscopic 3D.
