After the success of the previous dates we open a new call for our DIT (Digital Imaging Technician) course.

During the course we will work with a WhyOnSet Mobile Digital Data Lab. A complete workstation for DITs (DIT Workstation) that allows to take the lab to the set for image control, color grading and LUTs generation, fast generation of multiple copies and electronic and magnetic backups and generation of dailies for editing (Avid, FCP, …) and for visual effects (VFX).

The equipment is configurable according to the type of camera and the type of shooting, including editing software, color correction software (Assimilate Scratch, DaVinci Resolve) and the possibility of “Live” correction: adjustment and basic color correction of the SDI signal coming out of the camera “live” as a tool to support the exposure and for the proper use of the different monitors.

PROFESSOR: Daniel Pérez.

Daniel Pérez-Llebot supervisor of post-production, visual effects and digital services on set. Graduated in systems engineering, he has worked as 3D animator, visual compositor (in Flame, Avid DS, Nuke systems among others) or colorist (telecine, Scratch…) for companies like Softimage, Assimilate, Cinecolor … Having worked in Buenos Aires, Caracas, Miami, New York and many other places in Latin America, Daniel Pérez opened a new company in Madrid a little over a year ago dedicated to the rental of equipment and Digital Lab services on set: WhyOnSet.

DURATION: 16 hours

PRICE: 500€ (425€ for all reservations made before July 18th). You can get up to 20% discount if you sign up for several courses. Discounts are not cumulative.

AIMED AT: Directors of photography, camera operators, Data Management, DIT’s, post-producers, colorists, filmmakers and in general video and photography professionals who want to learn all the possibilities of digital video and film.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Basic cinematographic knowledge.

CONTENTS:

  • Description of the functions of Data Management and Dit, from pre-production, choice of equipment according to the project, recommended settings for shooting, image control and viewing, dumps, creation of LUTS and look files, color correction, dailies, editing and delivery.
  • DIT and DM “Video Village” workstations. Configuration according to camera and project
  • Hard disks, configuration recommendations. Systems, formats and connections. Data security, mirror copies, LTO-4. Security in shooting, use of UPS.
  • Use of shooting and management metadata
  • Workflow recommendations: card management, sealing and marking of cards and hard disks, dumping and formatting of camera cards.
  • DM DIT specific software: R3D Data Management, Ale3xa Data Management, Adobe Creative Suite 6 Production Premium, F65 Viewer, Red Cine, etc.
  • Creation of LUT’S and Look Files
  • Color correction in shooting, use of Tangent Wave type controllers.
  • Creation of dailies for viewing and editing: Prores, Dnxhd, etc.
  • DIT Workflows: Arri Alexa, Sony F65, Red EPIC, Sony F3, etc.
  • Keys to increasing the visual quality of a production without increasing costs
