Divergent Media transfers ClipWrap to EditReady

Divergent Media has announced the discontinuation of its ClipWrap, a standalone Mac software that allowed HDV and AVCHD files to be encapsulated in QuickTime.

However, they have not dropped this functionality, but have incorporated it into a new application called EditReady. The company has explained its decision by arguing that ClipWrap relied heavily on the QuickTime API (application programming interface), which is currently being phased out by Apple.

EditReady is a tool that transcodes and encapsulates all formats previously supported in ClipWrap, as well as QuickTime MOV, MP4 and MXF files. It features support for LUTs, metadata viewing and editing, and allows batch processing.

EditReady is priced at $50, although existing ClipWrap users can purchase it for $30. It only works on Mac OS X 10.8.5 or higher.

Divergent Media assures that it will continue to provide support for those who still prefer to keep ClipWrap.

You can also take advantage of the visit to their site to download the new free player (for Mac) called OneLight, which supports GoPro, AVCHD, m2t and multi-file MXF playback.
