Just yesterday we informed you about the presentation of Alexa 65, the new camera manufactured by ARRI. So, before the 6K arrives, today we leave you a clip of Alexa with the Open Gate mode so you can start practicing.
The Alexa is one of the most widely used cameras in the industry and a favorite for many cinematographers due to its high sensitivity.
The original model, what we call“Alexa Classic“, came out with a 35mm 16:9 CMOS sensor and 14 stops of dynamic range. It includes the SxS module that allows the recording of ProRes or DNxHD files on SxS Pro cards, so if we wanted to capture in RAW we would need an external recorder.
Things changed with the arrival of Alexa XT, which was launched in 2013 with a 4:3 Super 35 sensor and came equipped with the XR (Xtended Recording) module. Thanks to it, in-camera ARRIRAW recording is possible (up to 120 fps), as well as the Open Gate recording mode, which allows higher resolution to be achieved.
The clip we leave you today is a test made by Video Cine Import, recorded in ARRIRAW (.ari), at 25fps, with a resolution of 3.4K (3424 x 2202). To download it you just have to visit the page of 709 Downloads.
