The Canon C500 is another of the more compact cameras offering 4K recording, with RAW output and the ability to use the Canon Log Gamma curve. It has a Super 35mm CMOS sensor and uses EF-mount interchangeable lenses.
Its data output allows us to record 10-bit 4K RAW, 2K RGB (4:4:4 at 10 or 12 bits) or Full HD RGB using an external recorder. In addition, internally we can capture in MPEG-2 MXF (50Mbps) on CF cards.
This clip was recorded during our Digital Cinema Camera Course taught by Rafa Roche. As you can see, in it we see how a person goes from a totally dark area to an illuminated area, so we can see how this camera works in compromised situations.
In this case the recording was made in RAW 4K (4116 x 2178) at 25fps using Convergent Design’s Gemini recorder.
