DSC-RX0

Continuing in the line of interesting products presented during IFA 2017, Sony has announced its new DSC-RX0.

This is a new POV (point of view) camera that, according to Sony, is ideal for taking photos, videos, or use it in synchronization with others to produce slow motion videos from multiple perspectives.

As an example of what this camera is capable of, Sony has published two videos. On the one hand, “Orbit in blue”, in which the RXO shows people in motion, from multiple perspectives.

 

On the other hand, the second video is about the “Behind the cameras” of the previous one, showing how they have been arranged with 40 of these cameras for the elaboration of the same.

Among its features, we find that the RXO with a 15.3-megapixel stacked 1.0-type Exmor RS CMOS image sensor. Resolution is limited to 1080/60p for MP4, XAVC S and AVCHD files, although via HDMI the camera can output 8-bit 4K at 24p, 25p or 30p.

It also has a mode for recording with super slow-motion at 240, 480 or 960 frames per second for NTSC or 250, 500 or 1000 fps for PAL. And it has a Anti-distortion shutter up to 1/32,000 sec. that captures up to 16 fps.

This camera has a Weight of 110 g and size of 59 mm x 40.5 mm x 29.8 mm, an LCD screen, microphone, jack, micro HDMI inputs, Micro MS Duo/mICRO sdxd. It is waterproof up to 10 meters deep and, according to Sony, can withstand falls of up to two meters in height, and 200kg in weight.

In addition, it can be controlled synchronously with other cameras via wi-fi or bluetooth.

The DSC-RX0 is expected to be available starting next October for a price of $699.
