Canon launches its software EOS Webcam Utility Beta for the macOS operating system, after the success and the great demand it has obtained with its release on Windows. This system allows converting some of the Canon cameras into webcams with the quality offered by Canon. Some of the cameras that can offer this service are Powershot models and EOS cameras with interchangeable lenses. Among the large list of compatible cameras, we find both recent and older models such as the EOS 1-D X Mark III, Mark II, EOS 5DS R, EOS 7D Mark II, Powershot G5X Mark II, etc…
After the great launch on Windows systems and great reception by users, macOS users also wanted to have this new software, and Canon released the version a few days later. Now that it is available on macOS, it is compatible with High Sierra, Mojave and the most updated Catalina operating systems.
If you have a Canon camera like the ones mentioned above and any of these operating systems, it is very easy to use the EOS Webcam Utility Beta. We simply download the Canon software and connect the camera to the computer using a USB cable.
Faced with the demand for videoconferencing and videoblogging because of the confinement, Canon has launched this solution to improve the quality of the same and give a plus to the day to day both professionally and personally. It comes at an optimal time now that the consumption of webcams has skyrocketed and multiplied its price.
As the name suggests, this is a Beta software version and Canon is still working to improve this system and make it available in more parts of the world, as it is currently only available in the United States.
