This is a video tutorial on various ways to perform an export from the Avid Media Composer editing system.
The first one explains how to access the export menu once we have finished our sequence and configure the settings to output an .avi. The good thing about this tutorial is that, although it is quite basic, it does not limit itself to show the export process, but advises us to choose between the different types depending on what we want to do.
In the first example (the avi export), we also show how to change the settings and save them for later use without having to reconfigure everything again.
Then, the difference between a QT Movie and a QT Reference is explained and we are shown an example of how to use them to take our video to another system. As the QT Reference does not include the media, you avoid the rendering process in the Media Composer. In this case, the example they give is with Sorenson Squeeze (about which we did a tutorial last week), and then apply one of its presets; but it could also work with other post-production or DVD authoring software.
And if you already know how to use Media Composer (or Final Cut 7) and what you are interested in is to go deeper into the narrative of editing and not in the use of the tool, you will surely be interested in our“Advanced film editing course“, taught by Jaime Estrada.
Have a nice weekend 🙂
