Filmlight launches Prelight and Prelight On-Set

Filmlight, developer of the Baselight color correction system, has just released its new product Prelight. It is a free software for Mac OS X designed to apply and modify looks.

There is also a commercial version, called Prelight On-Set, which extends these tools so that DITs can use them from the shoot. Some of its main features are (which the free version does not have):

  • Export of 3D LUTs.
  • Support for LUT boxes.
  • Live SDI input.
  • Support for 3D LUT and BLG metadata embedded directly within the Alexa SXT camera.

Apart from these specific qualities, both software (Prelight and Prelight On-Set) can import and export stills in multiple formats, import LUTs, BLGs, EXR or CCC files with CDL values, use the image analysis tools and display on a monitor via SDI.

Here is a video tutorial with an introduction to Prelight:

Since a few days ago Filmlight offers a public beta program for users to test Prelight On-Set and receive feedback. You can download it through this link and work with it for 30 days.
