Today the IBC ends and with it the demonstration of Daylight, the latest solution developed by the English company FilmLight.
Daylight is a compact and powerful tool that allows color decisions to be made on set to help the director and cinematographer establish the look of the production and/or visualize what they have shot.
Although there had already been demos of other versions in development, it seemed that Daylight was simply a Baselight variant for dailies. Now, with the official launch, the company has announced that it will take its capabilities much further.
New features include AJA SDI output, tools for filtering and sorting shots, media consolidation, HTML reporting, multi-format delivery, GPU decoding of RED files and support for the latest camera codecs.
Daylight will be available from the first quarter of 2015.
Alongside Daylight were also products from the Baselight Editions collection and the latest Baselight update.
Baslight for NUKE
Baselight for NUKE is the latest addition to Baselight Editions. During IBC, specialists from FilmLight and The Foundry demonstrated the expanded possibilities of this VFX software when Baselight tools are incorporated.
Baselight 4.4
The 4.4 update of this color correction system now includes Apple-certified ProRes, adding the new ProRes 4444 XQ codec. Thanks to a project consolidation feature it will now be easier to manage the media, being able to consolidate all the material used with a list of scenes (and with optional collects).
Baselight 4.4 also provides faster decoding of RED files by GPU as part of the RED SDK implementation, as well as full support for working in HDR (High Dynamic Range) using Dolby Vision.
New systems are ready for UltraHD monitoring, and those with Generation IV and V can easily upgrade.
