There is less and less time left for one of the most important meetings in the technological world, the CES. It is an event where the main brands and content creators present their new products for the coming year. Well, 2020 looks set to be a great year in terms of image, both in recording and playback. This year, as it was already rumored last summer, will be the kick-off of the cine mode in UHD TVs.
What is the filmmaker mode? All televisions offer different playback modes depending on the manufacturer and all affect to a greater or lesser extent the final result of what we are watching. The filmmaker mode will ensure that the playback mode remains faithful to the director’s intention. That is to say, with the filmmaker mode on, we will ensure that the image maintains the color, frame rate and will eliminate the smoothing in the movements to have a more cinematic experience and representative of the director’s intent.
There are many directors who applaud this initiative and so far only a few brands have advanced that will integrate this mode in their TVs. LG Electronics, Panasonic or Vizio, for the moment are some brands that will show us at CES 2020 how movies, series, etc … on their TVs with the cine mode on. They not only intend to show the latest technological advances in televisions, but to put them at the service of directors so that the viewer gets a cinematic experience, faithful and pure to the final creative intention. Some platforms have already expressed their support to the filmmaker mode, such as Amazon or Universal.
The first impressions of this initiative are just around the corner, but it looks very good.
