Final Cut Pro 10.2 and plug-ins

Apple released the 10.2 update to its Final Cut Pro editing system at the end of April and it appears that, due to the SDK change, some plugins have been affected since then.

Red Giant

Red Giant has been testing and, according to the results, the only products that generate any failures are PluralEyes and BulletProof.

  • PluralEyes: When we import an XML in Final, exported from PluralEyes, an error message appears that does not allow us to do so. While the company finds a definitive solution, here are two detailed alternatives.

  • BulletProof: Also generates XML-related problems after having selected In and Out in a clip. When brought into Final Cut, this range will have the same duration as selected but will start from the beginning of the shot. Red Giant is still investigating how to resolve this.

ABSoft

Other plugins such as the well-known Neat Video noise reducer are also giving failures. In this case, it seems that the clip goes black when we load the effect and there are transitions or multi-camera clips present.

Until the final solution arrives, ABSoft recommends re-downloading and re-installing the updated version of Neat Video for FCP.

Coremelt

If you use the SliceX, TrackX and Lock and LoadX plugins, all from Coremelt, you will need to download the latest installers, as the older ones will not work in FCP X 10.2.
