Flame recorders advance in HDR

Atomos

Atomos has released a major update for its Flame series of HDR-targeted monitors and recorders.

This version is 7.1 and its most notable improvement is a slider control that allows adding and subtracting dynamic range stops on the displayed image. The developer has designed the Flame series taking into account that in HDR it is necessary that the display capabilities of the monitors match those of the dynamic range of the material. To this end, a slider has been introduced in this update to enable the display of detail in the upper and lower parts of the image.

In addition, the new software enables the input and output of a PQ (Dolby Perceptual Quantizer) curve, so that Flame monitors are able to view and display HDR PQ material and play it back on other HDR-compatible monitors.
