Foundry has announced its latest product Nuke Indie designed for individual compositors who want to enter the world of compositing. With this new product, Foundry is bringing the ability to create high-quality visual effects to a wider audience by launching it at a more affordable price of €449 per year.
Nuke Indie is part of the latest Nuke 12.2 release, with the possibility to purchase it for an annual subscription. Based on the Nuke Studio version, it improves some of the aspects of the tool such as data and workflow for review in Nuke Studio and Hiero.
From Foundry they assure that with nuke Indie you can get the same experience as with Nuke, having only some limitations such as the use of Python script to a maximum of 10 or the ingest and conforming of H264 and AAC files for audio. It allows you to create compositing nodes including keyers, 3D camera tracking, 360º video editing and compositing, etc… You can also export projects in 4K resolution, as do the leading companies in the industry.
In order to subscribe to the Nuke Indie license, some restrictions must be taken into account, specified by the company such as not having an annual gross income of more than $100,000, using the license for personal use and not for a company and provided that it is not used in conjunction with other commercial licenses, among others.
The Nuke 12.2 update includes support for ingesting in USD thanks to the RealGeo node, which allows geometry reading in USD data. And studios will be able to adapt their code as it is open source. For team work, SyncReview has been launched, which allows several users to review different collaborative sessions in Nuke Studio, Hiero or HieroPlayer. And for remote work, floating licenses can now be checked out for 30 days for offline use.
