Foundry updates Cara VR for Nuke

Foundry since 1996 has established clients such as Pixar, Mercedes-Benz or Google. It has spent many years designing software technologies for 3D content and visual effects. This year, it brings Cara VR 2.0 to the market. In this update of Cara VR-which debuted last 2016-adds new tools such as Stitching tools, automatic 36oº tracking and 3D stabilization.

We can also find tools from the Ocula stereo 3D software that have been adapted to work with 360° material, such as the disparity generator for depth estimation, or the tool for color adjustments between left and right views to match.

Cara VR 2.o full of new features

The company claims that this new version will allow users faster previews with the use of metadata from a camera solver. This method reduces ghosting when stitched images overlap. It also adds controls to align key features to a point and restricts deformations to straight lines. The Tracker node now automatically tracks and stabilizes a 360° stitch, allowing refining and locking a track and stabilization afterwards. It is now a simplified stabilization, adding 3D stabilization to eliminate parallax changes and bringing match-moving to Cara VR.
