Noise Industries, developers of plugins and effects tools for post-production software, have updated Pan and Zoom, releasing version 3 for free.
Pan and Zoom is a plugin for generating animations in a very simple way through presets or by configuring the parameters with keyframes. Support for Final Cut Pro X has now been included, making multiple animation styles available through the effects browser (Browser). Color management accuracy and processing have also been improved to ensure the best end result.
Pan and Zoom supports most image formats, such as JPEG, PNG, PSD or RAW, among others.
One of its features is the ability to synchronize with the clip, that is, when we apply the effect, the animation remains synchronized with the duration of the clip. However, this and all its parameters are modifiable, allowing an infinite number of variations. For example, using keyframes we can make an animation start at the beginning of the clip and end at any point, keeping the image static for the rest of its duration.
Another option that can be checked is “Motion Blur”.
When you download Pan and Zoom you will also find “Pan and Zoom Transition”, which allows you to use these same animation techniques and apply them between two video clips.
These are all the systems for which it is available:
Final Cut Pro: 6, 7 and X.
Final Cut Express: 4
Motion: 3, 4 and 5
After Effects: CS4, CS5, CS5.5 and CS6.
It can be downloaded for free from here (as always it is based on FxFactory) and on the same download page it is explained how the plugin works and the steps to be able to use it in any of the available software.
This short tutorial shows how to apply the effect on Final Cut X, choosing an image and modifying the default values to make it more personal.
