Yesterday, SGO presented for the first time Mamba FXa compositing and VFX software based on a nodal graphic interface.
SGO wants to target its new system to the indie market as well as to TV studios and high-end productions, entering the market with a very affordable price.
Mamba FX has a complete set of tracking, keying, painting or restoration tools, which can be easily extended due to the support of OFX plugins.
In order to automate functions and workflows, composition trees generate text files describing the process chain that has been followed and manipulated. In addition, unlimited layers and effects can be added.
In terms of file structure, SGO’s new software is completely open, allowing it to be easily integrated into an existing workflow alongside other systems or used independently to complete VFX shots in their entirety.
Another great advantage is that the visual effects created are fully compatible with Mistika Post Production and Broadcast systems. This generates an integration, facilitating efficient workflows where Mistika would be the central core.
This system includes the same software optimization that exists in Mistika, enabling real-time effects creation and review, as well as high-speed processing. This is due to SGO’s expertise in algorithm overfitting and extensive use of NVIDIA graphics cards.
Mamba FX will be launched at the end of 2013 with an aggressive price, becoming the direct competitor of the renowned Nuke (although their prices differ “slightly”). During the beta phase it will be possible to request access to the application for only 239€ (as opposed to Nuke’s 4,000€), from www.sgo.es/shop.
For an additional cost, other SGO features can be included, such as the renowned Stereo 3D toolset, functions for shot-to-shot corrections and DCP creation.
Mamba FX runs on Windows and is available for a wide variety of PC configurations.
