From NAB 2017: ARRI will include “Instagram filters”.

Yesterday began the NAB exhibitions, and from 709 Media Room we will be telling you all the news with first-hand information throughout the week.

The first thing we’re going to talk about is the development of an Instagram-style look library that will come integrated with ARRI cameras. Called the ARRI Look Library, it’s a gallery of 87 creative styles, developed by ARRI Media, that allow you to visualize various options on set and work with them in all departments. Additional looks based on user feedback will be included at a later date.

This gallery will come integrated inside all Alexa Mini and Amira Premium cameras shipped as of May 1, 2017. However, those of you with older cameras can purchase this feature by installing SUP 5.0 and it will be possible to use it with Alexa SXT and SUP 3.0 cameras.

SUP (Software Update Package) 5.0 for the Alexa Mini and Amira is scheduled to be released as a free download in mid-May. In addition to this feature the software update will include these new features:

  • Integration with ARRI WCU-4
  • Wireless transfer of lens files
  • Full remote playback control from the WCU-4
  • Wireless user settings
  • “EXT Sync” function to synchronize up to 15 Alexa Mini with a master camera (also Alexa Mini).
  • Extended support for EF lenses.
  • Extended support for ARRI Master Grips.
  • Support for 1.3x anamorphic lenses.
  • Improvements in monitoring.
  • Better integration with the ARRI Electronic Control System.
  • Enhancements to ARRI Amira’s multi-camera functions.
