We have almost everything ready for the Data Wangler and Advanced DIT course next weekend. Little by little we will give you more details but we wanted to start by announcing that during the course we will be able to use Fujifilm Fujinon Cabrio 14-35mm and 19-90mm lenses.
They are light optics but with a great performance both in the center of the image, as well as at the edges, which is something that often worries cinematographers. It is designed for both film and television, which is perfect for the DIT course, as you will see these workflows depending on one type of production or another.
Both come with a detachable servo for remote control of focus, iris or zoom. Their 16-bit encoding guarantees camera operators that the output data is extremely accurate in iris focus and zoom position. If we wanted to use Arri focus drives such as the XCU4 or SXU, it would be possible with these optics, as they are compatible.
The lenses are designed to work in 4K resolution and for cameras with 35mm Full Frame sensors. The diaphragm is composed of 9 blades to result in more natural images and maintain the same aperture throughout the T2.9 focus range. It has macro to gain in focal length 0.3mm, when the minimum focal length is 0.6mm.
We will be able to test them on the cameras we will use in the course and get the most out of them.
We would like to thank Jose Luis Aguilar from Fujifilm for letting us have these two lenses.
