Fujinon expands its range of premise lenses with new 80-250mm telephoto lens

Fujifilm announces the arrival in December of its new Fujinon premise series lens, the 80-250mm.

In August, the first lens of this Premista series, the Fujinon 28-100mm T2.9, was launched in response to the demands of the current market. The emergence of new large-format cameras is creating new technical needs and new optics capable of covering the entire image circle. In this case the image circle is 46.3mm. This is why Fujinon has launched its second lens in this series, the 80-250mm T2.9-3.5.

According to Fujinon the aperture remains almost constant between 80 and 200mm at T2.9, and goes up to 3.5 at 250mm. It doesn’t keep the aperture constant like the 28-100mm but in return it offers much greater dynamic range.

It is an aspherical lens no vignetting and no loss of edge quality, plus it comes with a new focus and zoom system that helps make this happen and no flare or artifacts.

Staying true to the premise series, the telephoto lens will come with a PL mount, and it remains to be seen if it will also be compatible with the zeiss data system as is the 28-100mm.

An advantage for camera operators is that both lenses will weigh the same to facilitate the work of changing lenses.

The starting price will be around $39,800 and we will have to wait until December for its arrival on the market.
