Yesterday we talked about the new version of DaVinci Resolve and today it’s the turn of another of Blackmagic Design‘s systems, Fusion.
A few days ago the Fusion 8.1 update was released, whose most notable new feature is the possibility of using Fusion Connect for Avid in all versions, since until now it was only available for Fusion Studio (the paid version that costs $995). Both Mac and Windows users working on the Media Composer editor with the Avid Artist DNxIO video interface will be able to take advantage of this functionality.
What is it? It is an AVX plug-in that allows editors to roundtrip individual shots, sequences or even stacks of layers from Media Composer to Fusion to add visual effects and motion graphics. When the Fusion Connect plug-in is applied to the Avid timeline, a Fusion composition is generated, with a nodal structure that is linked to the original Media Composer clips.
This plugin also supports different versions, so it is possible to perform several tests and play them on the timeline, choosing the desired version of the effect.
Processing can be performed in 16-bit floating point or 32-bit floating point and it is possible to work in shared storage environments.
You can download version 8.1 for both Fusion and Fusion Studio from the Blackmagic support page. Here is the link.
