For some time now we can see that the integration of certain editing systems, such as Premiere and Media Composer, with other applications has become more and more common. An example of this is the possibility of obtaining footage from libraries without having to leave the editor, and for this reason, I would like to talk about Pond5 and Avid Marketplace.
Pond5 is an extension that allows you to view and download material from Adobe Premiere Pro, without having to leave it at any time. Thanks to this kind of facilities we will save a lot of time looking for videos, music or sound effects that we want to add to our projects.
When you open Pond5, it will appear as a normal window, fully integrated into Premiere. Then type in a search term to narrow the search and select the category type (video, music or SFX). If you hover the mouse over the thumbnails, a preview of the clip and its resolution will be displayed.
Once we have chosen the clip, we can download it in low resolution and with a watermark to start working with it, edit it, in our project and later buy it.
To browse the Pond5 library you do not need a registered account, but you will need one to download, conform and download the files.
Here you have a video tutorial about this plugin that shows how it works and how to download it.
In the case of Avid Media Composer, we would be talking about its Marketplace, added in version 6. The material we can access comes from Thought Equity, so it includes a much wider selection, with user-created files, archive and historical material.
In addition, it is possible to add filters to the search, such as only displaying videos without rights.
Clicking on any clip displays all its information.
In this tutorial you will see how to access and manage the Marketplace.
If you want to see a more complete article about these two applications here you can see the one that was originally made in the ProVideo Coalition blog.
