Grass Valley announced yesterday version 7.3 of its EDIUS editing software, available for Pro and Elite modes.
Possibly most notable is the ability to support Matrox I/O devices , including MXO2 LE, MXO2 Rack, Mojito MAX and MXO2 Mini. This greatly increases system productivity, as the MXO2 Series features versatile products that can be used from the set to the studios, connecting to equipment via PCIe or ExpressCard/34 adapters.
It seems that the company also wanted to focus on audio, adding multi-channel monitoring and level adjustment in the clip preview, as well as 96kHz/192kHz and lower bit-rate support for MP4 output. It will also be possible to monitor audio when capturing with third-party I/O hardware.
As always, new media arrives, including the Panasonic Lumix GH4 4K, an additional AVC-Ultra format (for AJ-PX5000) and export in the Sony XAVC format.
A new function allows the “Layouter” to be applied as a separate filter.
In addition, EDIUS opens up to other systems with the exchange of AAF with DaVinci Resolve and the update of the Bridge plug-in for After Effects (with support for Sapphire presets).
Version 7.3 is now available for download from the Grass Valley website. Users with EDIUS Pro will be automatically informed of the availability of the software, but those with EDIUS Elite will have to perform the upgrade manually.
