HDMI 2.1 arrives

During these days the CES is being held in Las Vegas, and it is there where it has been mentioned that HDMI version 2.1 will be released early in the second quarter of this year.

We can’t give you too many details at the moment, but the president of the HDMI Forum has said that “the new version of the specification offers a wide range of advanced features to enhance the consumer experience.”

Some additions to HDMI 2.0 include higher video resolutions, reaching up to 8K at 60Hz and 4K at 120Hz. HDR has also been addressed, which will be supported very soon, as well as new audio formats. Finally, there is a new feature called Game Mode with variable refresh capability to eliminate lag in video games.
