Today we bring you another news about the products that are being announced for presentation at the upcoming NAB 2019. In this case it is the Evie HDR converter that the German company Lynx Technik has presented these days.
HDR is already a reality, a paradigm shift that is being implemented more and more in the audiovisual panorama and there is great enthusiasm about the possibilities that this system allows, which seeks to cover the widest possible range of exposure levels in all areas of the image. There has been a growing demand to implement it in the workflows of new productions in order to achieve an image up to the new screens that are already equipped with HDR. However, as this system is installed, it is necessary to have the option to work with SDR as well, so that we can always have both options for our production.
That’s where Lynx Technik hopes its new Evie HDR video imaging engine, which will make its debut at the 2019 NAB Show, will come in.
The Evie HDR system uses advanced algorithms that automatically analyze and apply optimal corrections in real time, frame by frame.
While TV studio productions can achieve HDR to SDR conversion with a single static correction, live news or sports broadcast productions need such frame-by-frame adaptation to deal with difficult lighting conditions, brightness levels and image composition.
Powered by Lynx Technik’s GreenMachine Titan platform, the Evie HDR supports single-channel 12G SDI 4K / UHD 4K / UHD conversions or can be configured as a four-channel device for 3G (HD) applications. It also features 4K Quad 2SI inputs and optional 12G fiber I/O connectivity. Conversion capabilities supported by the system include 4K HDR to 4K SDR, 4K HDR to HD SDR and conversion between HDR standards. There is also support for a range of open standards for conversion, tone mapping and color gamut, including HLG, PQ, SDR and SLog3.
