For those of you who are used to shooting with HDSLR cameras (or just for those of you who want to learn a bit more), here is a tutorial from Assimilate that explains this workflow with Scratch v7, their system for dailies creation, color correction and finishing.
In it we are presented with several exercises starting from two “Constructs”, that is, with material organized in two folders. Since the loaded media has no time code, we teach how to generate a new one and “burn” it on the image together with the source names.
For export, two adjustments are made, one with the burn-in and the other by configuring the QuickTime format with the ProRes codec. Once this is done, an export template is created so that it can be applied later without having to adjust everything again.
The purpose of these exercises was to create an offline media to take it to any other system, for example editing, and then conform back to the original media. This video uses an EDL from Final Cut Pro and a video that is added as a reference to check that the process was successful.
Surely after watching this tutorial you will be eager to continue learning how to use Scratch. Therefore, next July 13 and 14 we have prepared a color correction course for DIT and finishing on this system. In this link you will find all the information about the syllabus and price.
