Yesterday part of the 709 Media Room team was at 3Dday, the annual party held by SGO, which also celebrated its 20th anniversary. As always, the event was divided in two parts, in the morning the technical talks and in the evening the party.
One of the sponsors of the event was Canon, and it is precisely their cameras and lenses that the first speaker, Sebastian Devaud, talked about.
Sebastian told us about his work with different series of Canon cameras and their lenses. Among them were the Canon 1D C or the new C300 Mark II, of which he explained their most powerful features and the major benefits they have to take advantage of them, especially if we are working with certain limitations but we want our project to get the full potential. He emphasized the importance of not being limited by a camera or a “tool”, but to play our best cards to explore our creative options to the fullest.
To exemplify this we saw several spots, one of them focused on Disneyland and how the post-production process was, as well as some beautiful and impressive timelapses on the growth of plants.
Next came Juan Ignacio Cabrera, who began by talking to us about advanced workflows, the color correction process and the importance it has in the different phases of a production.
As you can see in the photo, Juan has worked on projects such as the long awaited Star Wars, so this movie was one of the stars of the day. Although they could not reveal much information, we had the opportunity to see two trailers, a “behind the scenes” and above all, for the first time, the 3D trailer (which I personally loved).
To end the day we went to the party at the Moby Dick Room, an ideal place to meet with colleagues in the industry and meet new people. There they raffled a Mamba software license and a Canon XC10, the latter I was lucky enough to be the winner, so from here my personal thanks to SGO and Canon.
Have a nice weekend!
