Imagineer Systems launches Mocha Pro 4

Imagineer Systems has released the new version of its Mocha Pro software, adding new features mainly focused on stereoscopic workflows.

These functions streamline complex correction tasks in this type of project, covering rotoscoping, motion-tracking and object removal in s3D. Thanks to version 4, it is possible to quickly analyze the differences between the right and left streams and resolve the disparity, with 2D tracking, 3D camera solving, the removal module and image stabilization.

The well-known “planar-tracking” technology has been extended to track the difference between the two streams, automatically detecting any distinction between the two eyes and maintaining the tracking. This makes the animations in tracking and rotoscoping tasks automatic in the offsets.

Other features include support for passing rotoscoped masks in Mocha to the Premiere Pro timeline, as well as a new keyboard shortcut interface with matching presets in After Effects and Nuke.

Also new are Python scripting capabilities, which allow users to integrate this software with other asset management software such as Shotgun, Hiero or Generation, synchronizing VFX content and metadata across applications and projects. In addition, custom tasks can be automated, such as sending certain render processes to the end of a render farm.

Finally, the user interface has been improved and support for retina displays has been added.

Mocha Pro 4 is available for $1,495 (upgrades from $495) for Windows, Mac and Linux, and is compatible with the following systems:

Mocha Plus

Imagineer has also introduced Mocha Plus, a revamped and cheaper version of Mocha AE, with more features than the previous product.

Mocha Plus includes a 3D camera solver, lens correction tools and support for copying rotoscoped masks directly to the Premiere Pro timeline. It is also compatible with Final Cut, Motion, HitFilm and Boris FX.

Mocha Plus is priced at $245 as a new purchase, $195 for Creative Cloud subscribers and $95 as an upgrade to Mocha AE v3.
