The manufacturers of lens makers Irix have just announced their new manual focus lens, a 45mm f1.4 designed this time more for photographers than for film. After the success that many of their lenses have had in film production, Irix has decided to expand its market for the photography sector by launching this new lens. Therefore, those who have a Canon EF, Nikon F and Pentax K mount, will be able to enjoy this new lens.
As a main feature, it should be noted that this is a manual focus only lens, with no automatism. The focus ring is 140º and as a tool for taking pictures, Irix has added luminescent marks that help to focus the image in dark situations and it also has a focus lock.
It is composed with a 9-blade electronic diaphragm that results in a smooth bokeh. It has an f1.4 aperture and all information from the electronic connections reach the camera body, including exposure and focus via an indicator. Exposure data is stored in EXIF data. It is neutrino coated to ensure that the image is free of ghosting and that colors are kept as true to life as possible.
As for the design features of the lens, not much is known yet, but from the brand they assure that it is a reinforced lens with weather-resistant construction. Built with aluminum and magnesium, it is still lightweight, hence the name dragonfly.
Neither date nor price of Irix’s new fixed lens has been confirmed at this time.
