JVC has announced a new free firmware update for its ProHD line of cameras.
This would be version 4.0 for the GY-HM650 model and version 2.0 for the GY-HM850 and GY-HM890 cameras. Both have added adaptive bit rate for streaming, RTMP support for live streaming over content distribution networks and a new 12Mbps recording mode, the latter also for streaming over closed networks. The company has announced that this mode will be especially useful for those using the BR-DE800 decoder or the MESH private network.
Apart from these new features, the fourth firmware version for the GY-HM600 adds a zebra display function, enables the simultaneous use of zebra and focus assist and improves the zoom control presets.
