Launch of CalMAN 2018 RC1

This week has been full of news, releases and various updates for different professional software and firmwares. Among the news, we have found the latest release by CalMAN: CalMAN 2018 RC1. This version of CalMAN 2018 (5.9.0) requires CalMAN or All Access (Maintenance) from February 2017 or later.

CalMAN 2018 RC1

Among the new features are

  • Added support for LG 2018 OLED displays and LCD displays. Support includes 1D and 3D LUTs in both SDR and HDR. Two new workflows have been included to guide users through the new calibration process (LG TV HDR Calibration and LG TV SDR Calibration).
  • Support for Quantum Data 280 is added. It will appear as “Quantum Data V2 – 280, … series (USB)”. This is a new communications protocol. Earlier models of Quantum Data will be supported here when they receive firmware updates.
  • Matrix LUT option added. A new 3D LUT measurement option for the target range that can be generated in as little as 30 seconds or less.
  • Added BT2390 Gamma formula.
  • Added support for 50Hz resolutions for VideoForge Pro. This requires firmware version 1.04 Support for new patterns has been added to VideoForge Pro. This requires firmware version 1.04. We find: Geometry, Nib Contrast, Nib Brightness, Moving Gray Ramp, Color Bars 75%, CCRA L20 C100 (Corner Contrast).
  • HDR10 functionality is added in the Unified Pattern Generator Control Interface (UPGCI).
  • Updated Konica Minolta CA-410 support for explicitly setting the measurement mode to connect.
  • New Contrast Ratio workflow and report is added.
  • Ability to disable CalMAN sound effects.

We have also found that a number of bugs have been resolved.

  • Fixed an issue where the installer’s full access control was disabled for a month.
  • Fixed compatibility issues with CalMAN editors / utilities in language regions where commas are used instead of periods.
  • Fixed issue with Jeti Spectraval 1501 causing CalMAN to report invalid readings.
  • Fixed an issue in HDR-10 workflow where ColorSpace was set to Rec2020 SDR instead of Rec2020 HDR. (This was a labeling error and did not affect calibrations).
