LightSpace CMS

Assimilate has recently added Light Illusion’s LightSpace CMS (Colour Management Systems) color management system to its marketplace.

This software is for advanced color management on set, in post-production or in broadcast environments, and provides all the necessary facilities integrated, so that a single license is sufficient, without the need for multiple systems or a floating license.

LightSpace CMS allows to visualize the images that have been shot on a digital screen, as well as the corrected images on different screens; in this way operators, colorists, supervisors, directors of photography and directors can see the accuracy of the correction and be sure that the final look will correspond to the images that have been checked in the different phases.

These are its main features and options:

– Main Component: Many times, when we import the material to the computer we realize that the color result is not the same as we expected. To solve this, it is necessary to apply a LUT (from the camera that has been used or one that has been created by ourselves).

This is the main tool through which we can work with LUTs and LightSpace allows multiple options for this (creation, conversion, adjustments, export and visualization of LUTs for both 2D and 3D).

One of its options allows you to insert a reference image as a guide for the LUT management procedure. It is also possible to import a LUT with its own native format characteristics and subsequently modify them.

In addition to generating or modifying LUTs, one of the major uses of LightSpace is exporting them to any other system that accepts them. They can also be exported encrypted or encoded.

– LUT Burn-in. Thanks to this option LUTs can be applied on the image; with the Main Component it is only possible to display them. There are two ways to apply them: one LUT can be applied on any image, the same LUT can be applied on several images or several LUTs can be applied on a single image (also any combination of the two options).

– Color space conversion.

– Interface calibration.

– Display Profiling & Profile Management: taking into account the generated profiles, the system is able to generate LUTs automatically.

ASC CLD Tools: Offset (low light), Slope (high light) and Power (mid-tone).

LightSpace CMS is available from the Assimilate Store for $4,495. Another option is to purchase LightSpace CMS-Main Component Only* which, as the name suggests, only comes with these options (explained above). The latter costs $825.

This is the link to buy either of them and here you can download the trial. For it to work you must also download the Scratch plugin.

In this page you have all the detailed features and also here are different manuals about its use (not downloadable).
