Lightworks for OS X is here

Just yesterday Editshare made the official release of Lightworks beta 12.0 for Apple’s operating system, providing Mac users the opportunity to join this editing software that already has versions on all three major platforms.

For two decades Lightworks has been focused on film editing, so its creators claim that it uses a Steenbeck-like driver. Until now it was an application that could only be enjoyed by Windows and Linux users, but from today we can all work with the same system that has been used to make films such as Pulp Fiction, Hugo or Wolf of Wall Street.

The developers have strived to make the program virtually the same on all three platforms, setting the ultimate key on the console. This creates a close relationship between the hardware driver and the software, speeding up the entire work process for publishers.

In addition to Mac support, version 12.0 brings new features such as the structure of the Content Manager. Bins” and “Groups” (formerly “racks”) and “Multicam Bins” (formerly “Sync goups”) will now be visible in the Content Manager. The search tool (by clicking on the magnifying glass) and the “Clips”, “Subclips”, “Prints”, “Syncs”, “Searches”, “Everything” and “Recent filters” have also been added to the Content Manager.

If we want we can drag files directly from the OS to an open bin or import to an existing bin.

As for effects, a new Blur effect has been added to the effects panel and the ability to create and edit filters, even based on search criteria, and manage them.
