Sony has announced the expansion of its XVS series of devices with a number of new IP and 12G-SDI capabilities in 4K. It features a new live production mixer: The XVS-9000 model. Ready for 4K and HD productions it offers up to 80 inputs and 40 outputs, and on the other hand 160 inputs and 80 outputs in HD respectively. It has the latest interfaces for both IP and 12G-SDI (4K version) and a hybrid system (of both).
XVS-9000 Mixer
In this new mixer, up to a total of four 4K/HD DME boards can be installed. This allows a maximum of four channels of 4K 3D DME to be configured for live (4K) production tasks including a wide variety of video effects. These boards are compatible with all of the aforementioned XVS series and the ability to configure two 4K DME channels is available on the current XVS-8000.
The company also claims to have produced a higher-capacity processor that includes enhanced signal processing technology. It inherits the functionality and performance of the well-known XSV series, such as the ICP-X7000 panel, with the modular design and OLED display. It will have a resource sharing function, allowing the resources of a single processing unit to be allocated. For example, inputs and outputs, mixing and effects… to several productions simultaneously. Thus, a scalable and flexible system is configured based on the production schedule, controlled by a single mixer.
The XVS-9000 is likely to be available from October of this year.
