During the last Apple WWDC conference, The Foundry announced that MARI 2.0 will be available for Mac OS X later this year.
MARI is a 3D digital painting software that allows painting directly on 3D models and is capable of handling very high resolution textures and models with millions of polygons.
This powerful tool, described by the company as “the most fluid and natural way to paint in 3D” got its 2.0 version in March this year for Windows and Linux. Now comes the long-awaited compatibility of this version with Mac OS X.
The latest update (which you can read more about here) was developed with the addition of a new layering system in mind, with the intention of making the transition easier for users with experience in Photoshop and other layer-based digital painting tools.
This innovation has been one of the most requested by MARI users, and comes at the same time as the recent announcement of the new Mac Pro. The software takes full advantage of Apple’s current hardware and will take full advantage of the next generation as well.
If you want to be among the first to use Mari on your Mac you can register on this page to test the Beta version that will be released soon. You can also download the 15-day trial or buy MARI (for £1,210 plus VAT) through this link.
