DJI has added a new drone to its catalog with the new Mavic Air. Despite the already small size of the original Mavic, the new model is 41% smaller. It weighs 430 grams and is fully foldable. In addition, it not only features the familiar microSD card slot but also contains its own 8gb storage. If you decide to store recording on the internal memory, you can transmit it via the USB-C 3.0 port. The gimbal system is fixed to provide greater vibration damping when flying.
This small drone has a 12MP camera on a 3-axis gimbal capable of 4K video with 30fps MPEG-4 at 100Mbps and 1080p HD video up to 120fps. It contains a CMOS sensor with dimensions of 1/2.3″ and a lens equivalent to a full frame 24mm with a maximum aperture of f2.8. On the other hand, Mavic Air is capable of taking HDR still image as well as standard dynamic range. It can produce 32 MP spherical panoramas.
More about Mavic Air
It has the FlightAutomony 2.0 system with 7 on-board cameras that build a 3D map of the environment that provides, in particular, greater safety when flying backwards. It is thus able to observe its surroundings and calculate its orientation. Its battery has a battery life of 21 minutes. Mavic Air is able to withstand winds of up to 22 m/h. It reaches flights of 5000 meters above sea level. In addition, it can reach speeds of 68.4 km/h. Finally, it is compatible with DJI Goggles.
Pre-orders for the Mavic Air are now available on their website. The basic package includes a Mavic Air, a battery, a remote control, a carrying case, 2 pairs of propeller guards and 4 propellers. It has a starting price of 849 euros.
