Mistika to feature Dolby Vision

SGO has announced that its renowned Mistika system will support Dolby Vision technology, enabling the display of high dynamic range (HDR) images thanks to its wider color gamut capabilities.

Dolby and SGO have worked together to incorporate the best technologies for users, creating complete workflows that are ahead of other manufacturers.

The main objective of Dolby Vision is to deliver “true-to-life” levels of color, brightness and contrast by augmenting Ultra HD (UHD) and HD video signals for broadcast, OTT (over-the-top) online streaming and gaming applications. The problem is that current standards are based on limitations of older technologies, so by the time an image reaches the viewer, much of the richness in brightness, contrast and color has been lost.

Dolby Vision provides a wider gamut that is faithfully reproduced on TVs with the same technology. Given Mistika’s support for HDR work for some time now, it has been considered the right tool for users to take full advantage of this technological change.

Dolby Vision workflow will be included in Mistika version 8.2, which was shown this month at NAB and will be released (as planned) after IBC 2014. We remind you that the next Mistika 8 course starts on June 2nd. Here is a link with all the information about the contents, schedule and how to sign up.
