MTI Film opens Cortex Convey with XML API

MTI Film announced a few days ago the release of an XML API for its Cortex Convey transcoding system.

It is based on the Cortex dailies solution, version 1.2 of which was also released at the last NAB. The API (Application Programming Interface) can be used to create custom automations and integration between applications, which will allow transcoding in all formats supported by Cortex.

The XML API is also used to define image and audio processing parameters. Among the image processing functions available in Cortex we can find:

  • Resize.
  • Color space conversions.
  • Color correction.
  • 3D LUTs.
  • “Burning” of custom text, timecode and other metadata.

Audio processing functions include:

  • Ability to mix and map audio channels.
  • Define offsets from the beginning of the associated images.

In addition, clips can be trimmed using in and out points, or they can be joined together so that they appear as a continuous sequence in the XML.

This XML API is available as of version 1.2 and has been included in all other Cortex products, so they support the same features and performance.

Cortex Convey is distributed in four editions (Stream, Pro, Studio and Ultimate), differentiated mainly by their encoding formats, ranging from H.264 to Blu-ray, and possible support for multi-GPU and SDI output. Prices range from $995 to $5995.

Here you can see their specifications and download the free trial of any of them.

If you are used to perform transcodings but you are still not clear about the differences between some formats or others, or what would be the best process to carry out, I recommend you to take a look at the “Codecs, formats and workflows course“, which will be held next June.

And if you are more interested in the creation of dailies, you might be interested in the “DIT course. Advanced digital cinema operations “which will take place in July.
