New Blackmagic Updates for DaVinci Resolve 17 and URSA Mini Pro 12K

Blackmagic releases two updates for the color correction software DaVinci Resolve 17 and new firmware for the Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K camera.

Blackmagic recently launched one of the most powerful updates to its post-production and color correction software, DaVinci Resolve. They released version 17, which included major changes primarily to the color page, and now they have launched the new version 17.1 Beta 7. Although this update doesn’t have major new features like 17.0, it can already be downloaded for free to try. With it, they have fixed and improved some operational issues of the software, making it more stable now.

They have updated to work with the new Apple processors, and now you can decode and encode DNxHR with Apple M1 processors. The same goes for FBX, these files are also compatible with M1.

As always, DaVinci Resolve 17.1 Beta 7 is free, and if you want some advanced options, you need the Studio version. If you’re upgrading from version 16.2.7 or lower, it’s highly recommended to make a copy of the database before installing this new version.
Blackmagic also has good news for those working with the URSA Mini Pro 12K. This update is also free and can be obtained through this link.
They have fixed some issues that, although they may seem simple at first glance, can be very useful when working. We’re talking about the improvement in reading the remaining recording time. With the option to record at 12K, the recorded material is heavy, and to be more accurate in knowing how much space we have available on the CFast 2.0 card, the reading must be fast as well as the calculation. This will allow us to better control where each clip is stored, if we have enough space to continue recording on the same card or if it will end up on the next one.
Another major improvement has to do with focus assistance. With this new update, we can adjust the color outline level on the LCD screen to improve focus assistance in 12K recordings.
The rest of the improvements are related to the optimal performance of the camera.
