New Cinemartin Next 4K recorder

Cinemartin, the Spanish company responsible for Cinec conversion software, has announced Next, a tablet-sized computer video recorder.

Next offers recording without compression or using ProRes, DNxHD and H.265 codecs, and can capture up to 4K (DCI), in 30p or 60p, at 8, 10 or 12bit and with 4:2:2 or 4:4:4:4 sampling.

The company has put a lot of emphasis on the size of the recorder, which measures 185x180x40mm. Internally it comes with a 64-Bit Intel computer that will have Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 operating systems. It also includes a 6.7″ HD touch screen, from 8 to 16GB of RAM and an SSD card that can be from 250GB to 1TB.

This unit can be used as any other computer, in fact it is possible to connect a mouse and a keyboard and start working with any software.

Cinemartin has partnered with Blackmagic to secure the recorder’s capture cards. In addition, it supports playback of uncompressed 4K files in ProRes or H.265.

Finally, it includes Bluetooth and WiFi connections for sending files over the Internet.

The prices

Cinemartin initially said pricing ranged from $2,295 to $2,995, the latter for the 4K 30P 6G SDI/HDMI model with 16GB of RAM and 500GB of internal storage.

At these prices there are three models, two of them available around NAB to be launched in the summer and the third planned for the end of the year or early 2016.

However, they have now added the Next S range, with lower prices (€1,395, €1,695 and €1,895) depending on internal storage, RAM or possible inputs and outputs.
