New effects for After Effects

VFX developer Boris FX has announced Final Effects Complete 7 for After Effects (FEC 7 AE). This new collection, available for both Macintosh and Windows, offers more than 120 effects, with animated transitions and text and edge treatments.

In addition to Adobe After Effects, it can also be used with Premiere Pro, both in CS6, CS5.5, CS5 and CS4 versions.

Among its main new features we can find the support of 32-Bit Float, to achieve a more accurate color representation in order to provide the best possible final image.

Some filters (such as Glue Gun, Mr. Mercury, Hair, Glass and Ball Actions) are able to follow mask paths made in After Effects, making it easier to create custom effects.

New filters and new transitions have also been added. Difference Blend is a new filter that creates the appearance of a (top) image painted over a bottom one. It works by replacing pixels in the lower video layer with their corresponding ones in the upper layer. The new transitions are: Difference Blende Wipe and several types of Dissolve (Glow, Spiral Blur, Toner, Threshold, Threshold RGB, Turbulence, Vector Blur and Water Waves).

For Premiere Pro we have added the availability of Beat Reactor, which is also in After Effects, a technology that allows you to generate effects guided by audio impulses (you can read more here).

Final Effects Complete 7 AE will be available in the last quarter of this year for $895. Users who already have an earlier version will be able to upgrade for $295.

You can download the 14-day trial version from here.

Boris FX also plans to soon release Final Effects Complete 7 AVX, for Avid; but it is not the only one that has recently renewed its plugins for After Effects. The company emotion3D has also announced the second version of its collection of stereoscopic plug-ins for Adobe’s After Effects.

Stereoscopic Suite X2 includes many enhancements for working with stereoscopic material in After Effects. New features allow automatic geometry corrections and depth adjustments and transitions to reduce eyestrain between different cuts or depths.

It also includes specialized plugins for a more efficient stereoscopic workflow, and enhancements to its Stereo-to-Multiview feature, which converts footage for reuse on non-glasses platforms.
The main features of SSX2 are:

– Plugin Depth Analyser.
– Geometry Optimizer plugin, to correct camera errors between stereo views.
– 3D Visualizer, a new 3D viewer to visualize the depth of the scene.
– Depth Transition controls, for depth transfers between scenes.
– Depth Dilation controls to adjust the edges of objects.
– Keying to isolate frontal or bottom regions.
– Wizards to set up the project faster.
– Customizable workflow for maximum performance in specialized tasks.
– Data logging for geometry and depth function and quality assurance.

This collection is now available for download (for CS5 or higher) from the emotion3D website for 7.795€, with one year of support and maintenance. You can get the trial from here.
